We do not advertise free quotes or free estimates. The plumber you are connected with explains the work and pricing before starting.

How to verify a plumber
Because the contractor who takes your call is independent, this part is on you, and it is worth the few minutes it takes. Do it before work starts, not after.
- Ask for the license number and check it yourself. Most states run a free online license lookup through a contractor or plumbing board; in some states licensing is handled by the county or city instead. The lookup shows whether the license is active and who holds it.
- Ask for a certificate of insurance. You want general liability, plus workers’ compensation if anyone else is on site. Ask for it to come from the insurer or agent rather than as a photo of a paper copy.
- Check the name matches. The license, the insurance certificate, and the invoice should all carry the same business name.
- Ask who pulls the permit. Bigger jobs — sewer or water service replacement, water heater swaps, repiping — usually need one, and it is normally the licensed contractor who pulls it.
- Get the scope and price in writing before work begins, including what happens if opening a wall or digging changes the job.
If a contractor will not give you a license number or proof of insurance, that is your answer. You are free to end the call and ask us to connect you with someone else.
